Congratulations, Ziming!
We are incredibly proud to see Ziming Ke, recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)! As a postdoctoral researcher in the Harnessing the Data Revolution for Fire Science (HDRFS) project, Ziming is doing vital work to help us understand how extreme wildfires influence our atmosphere.
His research was recently highlighted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Biological and Environmental Research program. The featured study, published in September 2025, demonstrated a novel framework for simulating the effects of storms generated by extreme wildfires. The DOE states that “this work is an important step toward understanding how extreme wildfires can change the atmosphere and potentially impact the stratosphere and Earth system.”
